Gunslingers and Outlaws Exhibit
Gunslingers and Outlaws: Facts vs Fiction of Cowboys in the West branding and art direction for Smithsonian exhibit. The Gunslingers and Outlaws exhibit portrays the facts vs fiction of cowboys and criminals living in the “Wild West.” This design direction combines the essence of fictional gunslinging outlaws with the reality of what the life of a western cowboy was actually like. The color scheme imitates the colors found in sepia tone and cyanotype photographs with added grain. The branding and promotional design was inspired by kitsch western items such as: lassos, hats, and guns. As well as more practical items such as branding irons and horseshoes.
